VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks refuse to lose.
On Wednesday night at Rogers Arena, the Edmonton Oilers jumped the Canucks early and often. They had the Canucks under siege throughout the first period, building up a 2-0 lead in the opening frame even as Vancouver found its footing as the period went along.
Vancouver answered in the second, making it a one-goal game early in the frame and generally controlling play until a pair of fortunate bounces spotted the Oilers a 4-1 lead and appeared to put Game 1 to bed without suspense and in the Oilers’ favour.
